Santiago Pilgrims: Are you ready to go home yet?

If you look over to the right, you will see that I have added a new page for A Casa do Raposito (orange link and underlined), a Post-Camino pilgrim retreat near Muxia and as far as I know the only one of its kind. Just click on the link to learn more. It has been my dream for many years to be able to offer a place such as this: a place to rest, to read or write, to walk without having to get up at 5:00 a.m., to relax and to discuss with others your experiences, or to remain silent: we won't bother you. Maybe you might even like to go fishing? That too can be arranged!

I shall be working on a web page shortly and Foxy will also have his own Facebook page very soon...

I am also offering to take guests on "History and Mystery" tours to places you would never find alone, even with a car. All is on a "Donativo" (donation) basis and includes meals.

Wouldn't you like to stay for just a little longer...?

  1. On April 1 I will start at St. Jean to walk the Camino Frances. I plan to continue on with the Camino Finisterre and Muxia. I hope to finish by May 15. I am very interested in staying at A Casa do Rposito after my Caminos. I will not be carrying a notebook or phone. How might I best contact you? I am thinking of sending you an email from a "public" computer before Santiago regarding my arrival and reading your response when I get to Santiago. What do you think? I guess I can always get someone to help me with a public phone. Once on the phone I can talk to you in English as I an an English speaking Vietnamese. Buen Camino! Hieu

  2. Dear Hieu, You will be very welcome at the house of the little fox. You can contact me at 686 315 328 (mobile) or 981 730 842 and give me at least one day's notice, just in case. Wherever you are staying I am sure the hospitalero or hotel staff will let you use their telephone. There are internet cafes too: I use the one on Rua Nova. I always stay at the Hostal Alameda in S de C and highly recommend it. I consider them friends. They are across from the park and very close to the cathedral (Rua San Clemente).
From April 1 is a lovely time to walk but be prepared for some "weather"! I have walked in April and saw snow in O Cebrero even that late.
I agree: leave the phone behind, BUT, I think you might regret not having a notebook. Almost everyone writes in their "diary" at the end of the day. I even used mine to write a book (two actually!)
    Looking forward to meeting you.
Buen Camino! I envy you. A first Camino is a very special experience.

    1. Hi Tracy,
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I will definitely call at least 1 day before as it takes me a day to walk there : ) Sorry about the "notebook" misunderstanding. I was referring to not bringing a laptop (for internet). I will be bringing a "regular" notebook and pen to write in : )
Thanks again for offering your house and the information about the Camino.
      Buen Camino,
      Hieu
